I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at Colorado State University. My research interests include political economy of development, basic service provision, gender issues in development, and Asian politics.

I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. My dissertation investigates why democracies often fail to provide basic services needed for human development. I examine the issue in the context of improving sanitation in India. I have previously taught at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University and at Case Western Reserve University.
